ABOUT THE ARTIST

I have always had a passion for art, both in terms of creating it and collecting works of my favorite local artists. I am a self-taught landscape artist strongly influenced places that I have studied including the Old Lyme Academy and Silvermine Arts Guild. I work in either oil or pastel, depending on the mood I want to create in a painting.  I capture nature's spectrum of subtle and vibrant colors and how light and shadow interact with them. This allows me to portray nature's tranquility and excitement in my paintings.

When I start a painting I look for unique and striking compositions including sweeping vistas, active skies, garden scenes and special places only known by locals.  My favorite places to paint are Marthas Vineyard and the South Carolina low country where I am particularly attracted to water scenes.  When traveling I also find huge creative inspiration in different cultures and I am currently working on a series of paintings that depict my memories and scenes of faraway places.

With the escalating threat of global warming I strongly support efforts to protect our environment and feel that it is extremely important for a landscape artist to preserve an impressionistic view of nature, as it exists today, for generations to come.

My paintings are apart of personal collections on the East coast. My recent exhibitions in 2018 included the Rowayton Autumn Show, the Silvermine Art Show, the Mamaroneck Art Guild Small Works, Garden Show and Awards Show, the Bronxville Woman’s Club Show and the American Yacht Club Members’ Show.

I also enjoy focusing on the business side of art. I am on the board of the Mamaroneck Art Guild where I recently conceived of and introduced a program called “Jump Start Your Art” which is a professional development program that enables both emerging and established artists to better understand the local art marketplace thereby maximizing their success in exhibiting and selling their art. I also recently conceived of and managed a members’ art show for the American Yacht Club in Rye, NY.
